I made a post in the hardware forum asking basically the same question as I'm about to post here... However, since this is the gaming forum, I won't make it so "techie", and rather ask if anyone else have this problem:

I've tried to run SC in the last couple of days (either through Wine and WineX, I actually own a llegal full copy of the later, not the latest version, though) and the sound is horrible: The game would paly one sound, and then loop on some samples of the sound, for instance the opening menu musc will stall at the first chord and loop until I select something, just to stall again (and so ad infinitum, in-game too). The odd thing here is that it only happens with Starcraft, other games, for instance Diablo1 do not show this issue (it has MANY others, but not this one), Warcraft II BNE also shows this problem (I haven't tried Warcraft III, though).

Anyone else noticed these problems?

Are you a subscribing member to WineX with all these games you seem to be running? They're can give some very good advice with issues just like this. Check the compatability when viewing the game on their site, if other people are having these problems, they will be listed there.

I was a subscriber member until last month (I stop paying for a service I use little). However the problems also show in regular Wine, so it's gotta be something with the system configuration rather than an issue with WineX per se.
