Quake 4 just stopped working on Neon

I have KDE Neon, up to date. I started playing Quake 4 (installed using the old ID supplied .run file) again last week and played up to 3 or 4 days ago. Yesterday evening when I went to play it wouldn't start. So I ran it from the terminal so I could see the output. It showed "./quake4.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.". I looked up this error and someone suggested this "apt-get install libpulse0:i386". I did and now I get this output:

Code:

I also play Doom3 on Steam, using Steam Play. Last night I tried that as well and couldn't play anymore. The game loads but the screen is completely gray, unable to see what to choose on the screen. I'm assuming it's related. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what is and what isn't an OpenGL game. Quake 4 is the only game I have installed not thru Steam. I haven't played all my games to see, but I do believe that the ones I have, have become a bit laggy. While typing this I opened Bioshock Infinite, a native Linux game and it's very choppy. I played Dishonored, a Windows game running thru Steam Play, last night and it wasn't bad but it wasn't as smooth as it should be either. I'm using nvida-driver-390, installed via Software & Updates, which only gives you 2 choices this or Nouveau. If I recall correctly, this is the same version as it was when I installed Neon. I have an Nvidea GTX 1050 Mobile.

BTW, I update Neon every morning when the indicator comes up saying there are updates available. I believe it was the update on Tuesday March 5th that caused this, either that or it was the one on Monday. It's now Saturday and I can't recall for sure which day the issue started on.

And now it is magically working. Quake 4 and Steam are installed on my home partition. I shrank my / partition and created another in the freespace so I could dual boot with Kubuntu. Kubuntu was able to run the games just fine and I've been playing for 2 days that way. Today I decided to boot back into Neon and check for updates, there were none. I started Quake again and it started just like it's supposed to. Checked Doom3, same. Besides shrinking the root partition, I did nothing to Neon. And just for the record, I did reboot Neon before posting the original message, so it can't be that that fixed it.
