login to a text login not graphical


How do you get redhat to login to a text login. Instead of to
a graphical login.I want to be able to start x windows at login by typing it in (startx).Help

edit /etc/inittab

change:
# Default runlevel. (Do not set to 0 or 6)
id:5:initdefault: <--might be 4 not 5 if on slack

to:

# Default runlevel. (Do not set to 0 or 6)
id:3:initdefault:


then reboot
