Insane problem with Enemy Territory (Please help!)

Hi,

Before I had Enemy Territory working fine on my system, but I deleted it when freeing up space for UT2003 and how I want to install it again. But now I get 'Server disconnected for unknown reason' whenever I've been in ANY server for a few seconds. When I quit, the console has given me this:

Sys_LoadDll(/home/joe/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)...
Sys_LoadDll(/home/joe/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so) failed:
"/home/joe/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Sys_LoadDll(/usr/games/enemy-territory/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)... ok
Sys_LoadDll(ui) found **vmMain** at 0x511e6bfc
Sys_LoadDll(ui) succeeded!

I have spent a while copying around said file, but I can never stop it from doing this. This thing has made me very angry (and tired), so please help.

Thanks!

The text you posted doesn't really suggest a problem anyhow. It couldn't find the library in your home dir, so it found it in "/usr/games/enemy-territory/etmain". Notice the "succeeded!" at the end, so if you had a problem this wasn't really applicable. If you really wanted to not get the first part with the failure you could always cp the file over, or make a symlink. In any case, the file wasn't found in the first expected location, but was found elsewhere and was able to be loaded.

Server disconnecting for an "unknown reason" usually is a problem with the server, or sometime an intermittent problem with your connection (i.e try clicking "Reconnect" right after that and see if you can get back in). Also, I'd suggest making sure you have the latest 2.56, as any server still running on 2.55 is probably not the greatest anyhow.
