If you downgrade your system you will loose all your data. You'll have to back your stuff up someplace.

isn't there another way to get the game work?
and if there isn't I have no choice but to delete the game and try it sometime else (FC4 maby...) I don't want to spend half a week burning information on CDs

The fix is quite simple. I play AOE2 on Mandrake every day, it's a bit slow but that's cuz of my PC. Jusy run wine empires2.exe -- -opengl. It should work. Same for cedega. cedega empires2.exe -- -opengl.

Hi Him,

I was wondering what version of wine you use to play AoE2. And do you also play the conquerors expansion or just plane AoE2?

Thanks.

I use the May build of Wine. And I play just plain AOE2.

Actually it's weird, I have gotten the game to work on Wine before. Though the text looks all fuzzy and the game is a little slow actually. Maybe get a Cedega CVS build and try running the game with that?

Hello Vegetassje (of moet ik zeggen Hallo?),

I love the game, and I would love to get it working back again on linux! Im using Fedora Core 4 now, the Wine version is 20050524. Age2_x1.exe runs, but only for the main screen. The font colors arent properly shown, the game settings interface are coming up even worse.... When I hit the Start game button, the game goes back to the terminal....

A shame it doesnt work, I was positively shocked the game runs already that far!

Is there anybody who has found the correct setup for the game so far?

Flo
