Smile printer sharing problem


hello
i hv two LAN's L1 & L2.....
L1 is having windows desktops & L2 is having redhat enterprise linux
desktop .....
i hv only one printer hp 1000 hwich is shared in window lan L1...
i need to share it with RHEL L2 n/w
so give me full details how can i do it ???//

you should look for installing and configuring samba in your linux boxes, think it's the only way to share something between windows and linux...

can't tell you exactly what to do, since i haven't tried RHEL, nor tried to run samba...
but there should be some howtos/wiki to do so on red hat (or another) website ?

yes u r rt but actually i hv tried it but i m facing some problems...
i hv installed webmin and when trying to connect through it then it gives error as


"lpadmin: add-printer (set model) failed: client-error-not-found"
so wat does it mean????
i hv configured as ...

i never used webmin, so i can't help you out with this, sorry...(i always liked the command line interface)

but it seems there are several solutions to your problem :

- by configuring samba, you should be able to see all windows shares
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Sams...ith_Samba/CUPS

(this is gentoo wiki, so don't pay attention to USE flags and replace emerge related things by your installer)

- by installig cups server on windows, and client on linux, you can share your windows printer to you linux box
