How to install RHEL4 update1 on SAS drive?

Hi All,

How to install RHEL4 update1 on SAS hard disk?

CASE:
We have DELL PE1955 plade servers, which has SAS HD.
We need to install RHEL4 update 1 which is NOT supported by DELL OpenManage Server Assistant v.5.1 tool; that contains SAS driver.
So I have to go with RedHat CDs. I downloaded the SAS driver and I have it
over a CD.

http://ftp.us.dell.com/SAS-RAID/Rhel4_mptlinux_a02.txt

I search in RHN knoledgebase but nothing.

-Is there any kernel parameter that i can pass while installation?
I tried while installation.
1-[# Linux dd updates],
2- I got prompt for any existing Disk Driver.
3- I force it to go for the CDROM.
4- prompt "no driver found, insert disk driver"

Also I tried [#linux all-generic-ide] but SAS still not readable.

HELP

Which sas card is it? The LSI(dell calls it PERC5/i) uses megaraid_sas.
Otherwise, search the dell site for your card and download the matching driver.
The driver is also on the Dell 'diagnostics' media under pexxx, but you'll have to hunt.

In my case, I wrote the .img file to floppy, attached a usb flopy drive, linux dd and all was good.

Hi RHELL,

Actually , Dell didnt support RHEL4_U1,... & U4 in DELL OpenManeg Server Assistant last version. Redhat also has no driver for that SAS5/iR controller ONLY in RHEL4_U4.

Any way I did as u mentioned then Anaconda is enable to see the SAS controller. But through installation first reboot the system are not able to locate the SAS driver again so the installation not completed.
Is there any way to install driver through FD while system reboot ?

Thanks for ur help
