install/boot to/from adaptec SAS 48300 controller

Hi

I'm trying to figure out if this is possible in Slackware 10.2 (or current/11.0) with 2.6 before I buy it.
I found that the mentioned adaptec 48300 sas (serial attached scsi) controller uses the adp94xx driver and got the source from adaptec. But will it work to install with the adaptec.s from slackware? If anybody knows. Or do I need to recompile my kernel with support for this card with the sources I found on adaptec's website?
The pc will not have other hdd's in it. And it's going to be 2 samsung spinpoint T133S 320GB sata2/300 hdd's connected to it. So any recompilation needs to be done at another pc.

In general, the driver is not part of the kernel yet (how long does that take?) and I would need to use his custom kernel to boot with. And then try to make my own for the upcoming slackware 11.0 with 2.6 kernel.
