My computer :

My problem :
lpd won't start, can't bind to port 515. I change the port to 516 in /etc/services and it works fine. Later it failed again. What's going on ??

did this ever get sorted out? i tried the "change to 516" route which worked for a bit, but i don't like that i can't bind to 515 for some unknown reason...
my netstat -anp | grep 515 gives something similar to the one above with xinetd, not the lpd Waiting message... confused.
what's up with RH 8.0... this never happened to me with previous version of RH.

it seems this bug WAS NOT corrected in the RH 8.0 release. I ran the chkconfig and restarted everything and could bind fine to 515... everything is good now.
