can't get openbox to start tint2 and xcompmgr like it says in the OB wiki

So I'm using a few things as a guide: archwiki for openbox,tint2, and xinitrc, the openbox wiki on configuration and autostart, and my prior experience with openbox. None of it is helping with this issue.

I using slackware 14 with OB 3.5, and I set up my xinit according to those (exec openbox-session) and autostart file according to the wiki:
Code:
##Programs that will run after OB starts
#set wallpaper
hsetroot ~/pictures/my_wallpaper.jpg &

#everyone needs compositing!
xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r-5 -o.55 -f &

#latin characters aren't enough!
scim -d &

#a simple panel
tint2 &
but it isn't launching tint2, xcompmgr, or setting the wallpaper. I can launch those after openbox-session is started, but that's really inconvenient. I was hoping to use the autostart because it's cleaner. Does anyone have some insight into this?

Where is your autostart file located and what filename have you given it?
Try putting the autostart file in;
Code:
~/.config/openbox
Here is another thread on openbox with Slackware that may provide some tips or clues.

That's where the file is located. I wound up figuring it out just a little while ago: my .xinitrc was bloated with useless code that was generated with xwmconfig (slackware's windowmanager chooser, automagically creates an xinitrc for your choice of WM). Thanks for the thread though!
