Lightbulb Thin Provisioning fails for LVM-backed LXC containers in LXD

I encountered the following error when trying to set up an LXD container:

Code:
error: Error Creating LVM LV for new image: Could not create thin LV named 7a7f...
I found this web page which [SOLVED] the problem:
https://josegonzalez.io/enable-lvm-b...ng-in-lxd.html

The problem is that a Ubuntu tools-package is needed which is not installed by default:
Code:
apt-get install thin-provisioning-tools -y
Now you know.

There should be a table about these.
Specifically, LXD supports several storage backends, including ZFS, btrfs, LVM.

ZFS requires the package "zfsutils-linux". Will give a somewhat informative error if you try ZFS but you do not have that package installed.

brtfs requires the package "btrfs-tools". Will not show btrfs as an option if that package is not installed.

LVM requires the package "thin-provisioning-tools". (Have not tried this at all)

I have suggested that the LXD tool should be made to check for the existence of the necessary commands, and to print an informative message if this is not the case. I expect the suggestion to be acted upon soon.

Thanks. Where's the report so that we can follow/subscribe to it?

lxd is a GitHub project at https://github.com/lxc/lxd. I posted the ticket there.
