Come to think of it xzallion, there is an HP Compaq pc where I work that has sound MAX integrated audio, or so its called by microsofts hardware wizard. The driver that SuSE recognized to use was the intel8x0, but this does not work. Oddly enough, on a whim I tried the nvidia2 and it works as well as its going to with the mono speaker it as. Only the PCM controls the sound, and in my case mono.

I might perhaps try a few of the nvidia modules, nvidia, nvidia2 or nvidia3
