FC 9 sound card config problems geforce8200 chipset
I am dual booting FC 9 and windows vista business on a nvidia geforce8200 chipset. I just recently got fedora core 9 up and running from some difficulties on boot. The sound was scratchy and I tried some googled "solutions" to my problem. FC9 could see my sound card before... now I have no options. I'm not sure which command it was that I ran that did me in. I cannot open my volume manager to change inputs or anything like that. I can, however, open pulse audio control, but I have no options for any devices. I can open sound preferences via System-->Preferences-->Hardware-->sound preferences. It shows that I have alsa available, but in the field where my sound card use to display (default mixer tracks) I have no options. help please.

okay, i think i may have found the problem with that, but i don't know how to fix it. according to services:
The audio-entropyd service is started once, usually when the system is booted, runs in the background and wakes up when needed.
This service is enabled
This service is dead
It is running in levels 1,2,3,4,and 5
Is that the problem, and if so, how do i fix it?
When I try to open volume control via the panel, i get this error:
No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found

i ended up just doing a clean re-install, but now, after installing the alsa 1.0.17 drivers using ./configure
make
make install
i now have NO sound. how can i undo/properly configure alsa so that it works. I know the install did NOT run properly because my sound channels were not muted like the installer said it should be. thanks in advance

when i do the alsamixer command and hit tab twice it shows master channel at 100 and capture channel at 0. I looked at the ./configure --help, but it just confused me. Thanks again
