Hello Hazel
As much as I study Linux and the six dozen or so books I purchased including yours I have a very difficult time with the concepts. I have a Medical Technologist degree and someone with that type of education one would think I could grasp the Linux concepts but such is not the case and it's very frustrating so I seek the help of the Linux Community. I abhor Windows and my persistent questions are not welcome here because I don't do the "homework". It's not because I am lazy. I just don't understand these matters. So my only choice is not ask questions.
While composing the last few posts it is in the back of my mind a certain person is going to come crashing down on me to provide the details, etc. He has a gift of words to belittle someone while disguising his ugliness. He just wants a neat and tidy forum I guess. It certainly is not to educate. It would be so much better if he would just overlook my replies and and as they say "if you don't like what is on the television, then turn the channel".
Well I am not going to go back to Windows and will continue to ask questions on this forum and try to do better in providing details and if it doesn't suit certain individuals then that is their issue not mine. I happen to like it here.

So then PROVIDE THE DETAILS...this is your second rant about how 'ugly' things are, yet you don't seem to find the time to answer any questions that any of us have asked. And you've been here for YEARS now...how long does it take before it sinks in that you have to show some effort of your own and provide details??? This is *NOT A HELP DESK*...we are all volunteers, and YOU, PERSONALLY, need to do your part in helping solve YOUR problem.
Your question is like calling a mechanic and saying "My vehicle doesn't run, what could it be?". What, exactly, do you think is going to be their response?? They're going to ask simple questions like "What kind of vehicle? Gas or diesel? Do the lights come on? Is there fuel?" That's not being 'ugly', mean, etc....that's basics you should provide. Whining about getting asked things does nothing to let others help you.
Why is is so hard to say, "I've got model XXX computer, and it's having problems booting. I've checked the log at /some/log/file but don't see anything I think is an error; heres the last few lines. Any ideas on what to check for?" rather than having us have to pry things out of you??? Again, you've been here for years...looking in a log file should be something you know how to do, since you've been *TOLD TO MANY TIMES BEFORE*. The list of reasons why something won't boot is huge and without any information at all, none of us can even guess.
You've asked the same questions several times in a row, indicating you don't listen to the answers or even care. Why should any of us here continue to try to help you when you display this lack of effort and won't answer questions, and then want to whine about how 'mean' people are??? You claim not to be lazy...so why can't you apply anything you've been told/asked in the past and think to yourself "Gee, everyone keeps asking me these questions....perhaps I should post these things WITH my question?"
