Can you upgrade the Kernel of DSL

I'm just wondering, since other distros have guides floating around the internet about upgrading the linux kernel... Can the 2.4.xx kernel of DSL be ugpraded to 2.6.xx ? If it can be done, can anyone post a guide on how to do it? I'm fairly new to Linux, still needing to read guides around the internet about changing fluxbox themes, and unpacking tarballs...

An old thread, but for future info:

If you search the forums at damnsmalllinux.org you'll find that Tronik has (unofficially of course) rebuilt dsl with a 2.6 kernel and you can download the iso from his ftp site - BUT it's reported to be buggy.

There are no plans to release an official dsl with a 2.6 kernel for a variety of reasons, partly to do with space considerations.
