Boot stuck at GDM
Hi,
I have a vm client Centos7 3.10.0-693.17.1.el7.x86_64. I've been updating the vm frequently if there is any update. Suddenly after I restarted today, I stuck on GDM and can't proceed to login page.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you.

Being in virtualbox is there anyway to switch virtual consoles(ctrl-alt-f1-7)? If you could switch, you could login and run startx to look for errors and also run some debug stuff like dmesg.

Yes, I can switch. I login using my username and run dmesg. This is the output:
dmesg.txt
I run startx but it fail, this is the output:
I see that there is "driver (null)". Is that the root cause?

Looks to me like mesa is the problem. Maybe upgrade/downgrade might fix it. I'm not familiar with centos, so maybe somebody else has a better answer.

Run the following commands:
Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -i 'VGA'
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Then post the output from them, using CODE tags.

I think the following line is your problem:
Code:
[ 20.605] (EE) Failed to load module "vboxvideo" (module does not exist , 0)
Did you install the "Guest Additions" before?
If not, try installing them. If so, try re-installing them.

Yes I installed it before. I've been using the vm for 8 months. I will reinstall it again and will let you know.
By the way, I tried also to install kernel 4.15 from elrepo. The result was I can login using graphical mode but I was unable to reinstall the guest addition due to kernel-header was in different version, which turned out the resolution was fixed to 1024x768 and not auto-resize to my current screen res.
