Bodhi Linux 0.1.4 Beta Release - 01/08/11

The Bodhi Linux team and I have released our sixth release and first ever beta release. This version includes a number of package updates including Firefox beta 8 and the latest Enlightenment SVN build as of 01/08/10. For a full change log see here.

One of the most important changes to this new release is how the initial system layout/colors are configured. For an overview of how it now works see my blog post here.

Thumbs down No wifi

Hi Jeff,

After a second posting on your blog on Jan 10th, 2011, I never recieved a reply to my problem.

Here is a copy of my post:

Hi Jeff,

Ran Bodhi from live CD but it would not connect to my wifi.

b43-fwcutter was shown as being installed but there were some other bcm items listed in the Synaptic PM that had not been applied.

My wifi card is a Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller.

Any help to get me connected will be gratefully received.

Albert Dock

Thanks in advance.

Albert,

Must have missed that comment, sorry about that.

For broadcom chipsets that are not supported by the b43-fwcutter package you need to installed the bcmwl-kernel-source package for the other chipsets to work. First thing purge the b43-fwcutter package and then be sure to install the linux-headers package for your current kernel

Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
That should do the trick ^

Reboot after removing the b43-fwcutter package and then install the bcmwl-kernel-source package. Reboot once more and you should be good to go!
