In September, Megamieuwsel asked if I would be willing try out VectorLinux 5.0.1 SOHO then offer up my views on it, and make comparisons with other distributions I've tried out.
So I formatted a partition and started playing around with it, thinking that within a month I would be able to submit a review that, while it wouldn't be widely hailed as a masterful work, at least I wouldn't be ashamed to have my name associated with it.
I was wrong.
After nearly 2 months of research, study, experimentation, and reworking rough drafts, I nearly had an article worth publishing.
Then I found out that VectorLinux 5.1 SOHO beta 1 has been released, invalidating my data and requiring a complete re-work the entire article! I escaped looking like an idiot by publishing an irrelevant article by the skin of my teeth!
Part of the article was about how the maintainers should consider updating some of the packages bundled into the .iso, which, obviously, they had already done. I'm downloading the beta right now, and plan on using a similar outline on a review of it.
I do not consider this a tragedy by any means, as I mislike relying on outmoded data; rather, I see it as a chance for me to write a better article.
