REAL Firefox on Debian

Firefox has been back in Debian for a while.

No Real Reason to follow this guide, it is way past outdated

This is all I do to use Firefox rather than Iceweasel.
1) download Firefox
2) extract to my /home/Downloads
3) symlink plugins by doing:

ln -s /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins /home/craig/Downloads/firefox/plugins
4) open iceweasel with iceweasel -profilemanager and...

The default installation of firefox may or may not be latest version. If you want to use latest version of firefox, then download firefox source ( i.e tar.gz ) files from this location.

Download the latest version of firefox releases from ftp site: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

suppose if the firefox version is 3.5.6 then the file name is like firefox-3.5.6.tar.bz2 This file consists of firefox source files under "firefox" directory. Now we can copy...

Is I.E. 8 the end for explorer?

I've heard through the grapevine that IE8 is the last version of the IE browser. Is microsoft throwing in the towel?

They've got to be coming up with a replacement. Some are claiming that Microsoft will go with WebKit, which, thanks to the popularity of Apple's Safari browser and also Google's Chrome, is rapidly becoming a standard for all non-IE and non-Firefox implementations.

Others say that that the whole WebKit story is merely a feint and that Microsoft will...

Google would have us believe that Wave was the solution to all of our social networking needs. However as the beta invites started going out, people began to realize that it was nothing of the sort. It's just not ready to replace facebook, twitter and the others. It’s not even ready to replace basic e-mail. If you ask me, it's just a solution waiting for a problem. Is Google ahead of the times or just falling out of touch?

Highlight Domain & Subdomain for SSL websites in Firefox

When you visit a Secure website in Firefox chances are that the FavIcon for the website is replaced with a Green bar with the details of the company. This is because of the default properties in Firefox to display detailed information of the website from the Extended Validation Certificate on the website. However, if the website doesn’t host a Extended Validation certificate then the website URL (link) in the address bar is not highlighted or in otherwords shows as a normal website URL.Read more
