Hello from new user who has questions

Hi everyone,

Always wanted to try Linux out. I am a frustrated microsoft user looking for something new.
Ok. Here is my question. I burned an iso of Ubuntu 5.10 live and I get a video problem message. When I view the problems and return back to the load screen I noticed a Fatal:Error inserting sonypi --- no such device. The pc is a sony vaio desktop model pcv-rx580. I really want to try Linux from a cd before I do a full install to my hard drive.

does it have any options such as apci off or failsafe when booting? if so, does that make any difference.

You might need to reburn the ISO because your current ISO might posses problems resulting in your current video error.

You could also try another live linux disto.
