YaST ftp'n

sittin here plugged into my router movin at 100mbps...hurray comcast

i decided to use yast to install all the missing software from 9.1 personal via ftp... i added the ftp that www.suse.com gives and it's just :

"Reading Package Information; One moment please..."

for i dunno...10 minutes now....i know this process was going to take a long time, but just to view the packages available on the ftp ?

if anyone else has done this, lemme know what you did and how well/if at all it worked out.

ahh cool, well after sittin here for a while...time since my last post + the 10-15 mins before that...i can now search and view all the packages on the ftp...awsome...

downloading gcc, make, kernel source....what else should i get while i'm here....any suggestions for getting around future issues you have had ?....maybe if i go to the MFA ( museam of fine arts ) this weekend, while i'm there i'll just have it install everything.......<< good idea? bad idea? i have the hard drive space...don't think it could hurt.

your first time hitting that FTP, assuming you added it as an installation source, will take quite a while, as Yast has to read EVERY package that is available, and add it to the Yats repository. Each time after the first should be seconds.
