Suse 9.3 may not be supported because its just been released. Webmin usually takes a short while to catch up with distro releases.

Thumbs up

If you don't want to compile, you can always download the .tar.gz version of webmin-1.200 to your Suse 9.3 installation and install it manually by issuing the commands:

UnTAR the archive;
pandora:/home/clozano # tar xvfz webmin-1.200.tar.gz

From the webmin directory where you've untarred the file;

pandora:/home/clozano # cd webmin-1.200/
pandora:/home/clozano/webmin-1.200 # ./setup.sh /usr/local/webmin

This will install webmin to "/usr/local/webmin". Follow the prompts of the installation process, when prompted to choose OS select Suse Linux, then 9.2 (don't worry it's the same as for 9.3).

This works perfectly!

Basically the problem is with the RPM. I ran into the exact same problem a few hours ago... I downloaded the gzip'd version and installed it that way flawlessly. Now if only it would read my apache, mysql, etc config files without me having to manually configure webmin to see them!

You have to manually find the apache 2 paths and then enter them in the webmin interface. If you make an error, webmin will let you know, so theres no need to worry that you will make any critical mistakes.

In Webmin, select Servers
Select Apache
At the top-left you will see a "Module Config" hyperlink. Click that.

Now in this screen you will see the configurator for the apache webmin module. You need to set the paths in the "System Configuration" section.

Apache server root directory typically /srv/www in suse, /var/httpd or /var/www under some other *nices
Path to httpd executable typically /usr/sbin/httpd in suse
Path to the apachectl command /usr/sbin/apache2ctl
Command to start apache /etc/init.d/apache2 start
Command to stop apache /etc/init.d/apache2 stop
Path to httpd.conf /etc/apache2/httpd.conf
Path to srm.conf /etc/apache2/srm.conf
Path to access.conf /etc/apache2/access.conf
Path to mime.types /etc/apache2/mime.types

Enjoy!

Incidentally, once you learn how apache works I highly recommend using the shell prompt - it's actually faster to make changes via the CLI and restart the demon than to have to browse through many levels in webmin and wait for the webmin configurator to post back between each click.

Hi,

there ist a new release for download at www.webmin.com (v 1.210). It should support SuSE 9.3.
