Unable to mount Cd-drives when not in root

I have Suse 9.1

The icons for my CD drive and CD rewriter drive disappeared. I replaced them by right click on the desktop and selecting

Create new
Device
CD-ROM device

I then set it to my cd drive by when I try and mount or unmount it I get the error

umount: only root can unmount /dev/cdrecorder from /media/cdrecorder

How can I set it up that any user can unmount it.

Thanks for any help in advance

I would assume that the entry in your fstab file (in the /etc directory) for /dev/cdrom is set to allow only the "owner" to mount it. To allow any user to mount it, change "owner" to "users". -- J.W.

Thanks

There is no reference to either user or owner

/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0

Where should I add reference to user

I think the problem is, that submount handles the mounting of your drives (as stated in fstab), while you try to do it manually. Maybe it works if you revert from subfs mounting:

Thanks for the help. I have now set it up that I link to the mounted drive rather than trying to mount it.
