I did a full install today on my Athlon XP 2400+ and when I try to load up SuSE using a normal boot it will not load at all and I can't get my keyboard to work to show me the details on whats going on behind the splash. Its like my keyboard froze. A failsafe boot works perfectly fine. I'm using SuSE 9.0 pro if that helps any. I didn't do any soft of updates to it all I did was install every possible package I could without getting conflicts. Any help would be wonderful if someones had this problem before. I'm about at the end of my rope and am very close to doing a complete wipe and install again.
What MoBo are you using? I have a ASUS AMD with nForce chipset board and my system will act like it? frozen when I boot, but if I leave it for a few moments the screen will blink quickly then it will continue to boot.
I have an ASROCK K7S41GX which is some crazy ass board. Linux doesn't seem to like it much b/c its got some crappy SiS integrated graphics chip on it and it won't give me the KDE unless I choose the VESA BIOS graphics. I mean that doesn't mean a whole lot to me at all since its just a server but if I can't get it to boot the way I want it thats a problem. It worked yesterday on my smaller hard drive. But I upgraded to a 80Gig WD and all of a sudden it won't load unless I do fail safe and my keyboard won't allow me to see any errors behind the Splash b/c that locks up as well. If I can't get it figured out I'm just gonna reinstall and hope I just got a bad install from messing with settings.
