sound resetting each time song changes

hi-
i use suse 11.0.
i have the firefox plug-in for rhapsody.
the pcm value will either go way up or way
down at the start of each song in the kmixer.
it makes it unusable because i am trying to program
and i cant keep stopping to fix my stereo/mixer every time
a new song starts. i figured out that my volume on the pc
has to match a level on my stereo ( i use a y audio cable )
and when i match them it sounds great. but if they arent
kind of matched it sounds horrible.

so if anyone knows how i can keep pcm at the same level
song after song (the way i want it set) i can program
and listen to my tunes.

it is hard enough dealing with the fact that i cant
get noscript set to deal with rhapsody so i can listen
to music and browse securely. i can have either/or -
the best i can do for now anyways.

thanks for helping.

What do mean exactly ?
Each song is recorded at a certain level .
But the levels of recording is different.
What you expect is that kmix levels all the sound recording to the same level , if it will act in this way than there is no dynamic in the music anymore
But what you can do is setting the output level of kmix in a way that you have a overall good sound

hi ronlau9-

i need master and pcm to be set the same (at a level i can hear).
so song #1 plays and i set them. then on song #2, master stays and
pcm goes way down so i cant hear the start of the second song.
and the scenario repeats itself. so each time the pcm goes to
about 0 and i cant hear the new song.

i have a hard time believing
that this is entirely dynamic. not everyone on the internet has to keep adjusting
the volume after each new song is played because they cant hear
the stereo.
thanks,
jim

What I mean is the average sound level in DB differs from song to song
So you have to set you're master channel in that way that in average the sound level suit you
My master sound channel is set to front , so for instance in opensuse I can adjust the sound level from my keyboard.
So if my sound level is still wrong one punch on the key is enough to get it OK
Some songs started with a sound level of 0 DB while playing it differs from 0 DB to 100 DB
