Run level problem

Hello,

I have suse 10.0 installed. I recently typed in "init 3" when I was in a KDE session. As expected, this brought me to the root prompt. After I was done, I typed in init 5 and I never get into log in session again, even after a reboot. It is like the init 3 remains permenant.

Has anybody seen this?

Regards,

Randy.

Are you able to start up your X session using startx ?

Did you change any configuration files while in run level 3 that may prevent you from booting up into X again?

Yes, probably you have changed some configuration files. It'll useful if you can post the result of the following command:

Quote:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(EE)"
this will give us some clues if indeed the X Server is the problem.
