like serz says Grip is a good program you can also do it directly through the file browser. open the file browser, on the left side you should see some buttons, if you click on the bottom one it will open up a small side panel right at the top there is an option to browse an audio CD.

if you click on it you should get a list like this:

By Track
dev
Full CD
Information
MP3
No Title
Ogg Vorbis

click on the file type you want and you will see the tracks listed in the main window of your file browser then all you need to do is drag and drop the files to the folder on your Hard Drive and it will start ripping.

if you want to rip to MP3 you will need to install lame first.

Please remember that there are dozens of different file managers... i assume that this is for KDE... but who says they're using KDE?

I appologise that is the Konqueror file manager in KDE, I was assuming that KDE was being used since it is default in SuSE and most SuSE users that use Gnome usually state that they are using Gnome. I understand that is a lot of assuming and most likely not the best course of action.

i use a really cool perl scrit called ripit. its available through yast in suse. all you need do is change the directory where it rips too in the perl script itself. its soooo fast if you can have a command line. very easy too

I do it with abcde
A frontend program to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your
favorite Ogg or MP3 encoder (defaults to oggenc). Grabs an entire CD
and converts each track to Ogg or MP3, then comments or ID3-tags each
file, with one command.

Itīs running on a command line and uses CDDB-searching for the names of the compressed music file.
Works great!

I would like to add something to this comprehensive collection:

kaudiocreator comes with the SUSE KDE package. It is easy to use, as encoder you could user lame, ogg and flac.

Ripping audio from Konqueror is as easy as drag-and-drop.

If you want MP3s you may have to install lame from Packman .

Then you just go to the Home icon on your panel and select Services on the far left.

...and drag and drop....
