Problem downloading Suse 10.3

I am having a problem downloading Suse 10.3. I've seen the problem mentioned in a couple of threads, yet the solution was not mentioned.

The problem is that I tried from five different ftp mirrors so far and two torrents and the best I got was a 4GB iso, which apparently is good but it has errors.

In two cases I managed to download up to 4GB (84.6%) and then it stops. I used UltraISO (in Windows) to open and check the file and it was reported good - it burned the DVD correctly. Yet the media verification reported CRC errors and when I tried to install without a check I got an error saying it couldn't read the file (the path/name was in non-printable characters).

I've been using Opera to download the iso but I tried anonymous direct ftp (without access) and torrent, as mentioned. In this case the most I got was 64MB.

Should anyone have had the same problem and solved it, I would appreciate to know how.

Thanks in advance.

The most straightforward method is downloading via ftp from the command line. Just some notes about this: upon connection always issue the command
Code:
ftp> binary
since some ftp clients use ascii transfer mode by default (which will break things when downloading non-ascii files). Then download the file MD5SUMS and check it against the iso you've just downloaded:
Code:
md5sum -c MD5SUMS
the line corresponding to the downloaded iso should be OK. Then burn the DVD using "burn ISO image" or something similar, depending on the software used. Following these basic and simple rules, I have never experienced any problem with openSUSE images. It is true that there are bugs in the installation disc (I experienced a mis-configured /boot/grub/menu.lst which I had to correct by hand) but I never heard about a truly broken iso image around the world. I hope this will help.

Problem downloading Suse 10.3

Thank you for your answer colucix, the problem with ftp is that when I tried it I got an "access denied", so I droped that solution in a couple of tries.

I came across some references to a limit of 4GB and I saw that the problem could realy be on my side since I was downloading to a data disk I have, which is formated in fat 32 (dumb me) and I never remembered the 4G limit of the file system. I give a try to another file system.

Anyway, thank you again for your answer.
