Aloha,
Computer is Dell Inspiron 3880, install is opensuse 15.2 DVD.
The DVD boots into the install/upgrade... menu then
a text message box opens with the title shown above and 3 choices: cd:/, hd:/, or 'Enter another URL'.
I have tried the following:
-boot with parm and combinations of acpi=off, noapic, and nomodeset.
-enter URLs dvd:/dev/sr0 and similar.
I am stuck, any ideas will be most appreciated.
Mahalo,
Pia
Aloha Teckk,
No errors appear between leaving the BIOS UEFI screen and the
text box with the selections:
boot from harddrive
install
upgrade
...
I hit the 'install' choice followed by the F2 key and again no errors appear
on the screen. I see the 'udev...' message and then the text box asking me
to provide a URL.
I then hit the back key until expert mode and in system configuration/info
the one for scsi/dvd/usb/...(not sure of the exact title), and it reports there are none detected. On earlier tries I had left a usb backup disk in and this was
detected.
The install fails at the text screen asking for a URL, since I cannot give it
one that will work.
I have gone over the manuals but this case is not explained.
I have also, while in the text screens, hit the back button until I can get
into a shell. log boot.msg does not show any errors. I have a small FAT
partition but cannot save this log due to not being able to find how to mount
it.

Pia
Aloha,
Following the instructions on the openSuse download page, I was able to make a USB stick bootable and this, upon reboot, came right up ready to install 15.2.
Mahalo for your help,
Pia
