Uh....

Ok.....to cut a long story short....! I am trying to install GTK+2(which doesn't ship with Suse for some reason) for the installation of a design package called gEDA.

But that aside it says it requires LibPNG to install GTK.

So, I try to install the supplied LibPNG tgz package....

libpng-1.2.1

The instructions tell me to copy the make.linux file out of the scripts folder and put it in the main source folder.

It says there is no ./configure file and that I should just run the make command, bu when I do it says:

ocean:/usr/src/libpng-1.2.1 # make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.


Does anyone have any ideas how to make the pain go away????

I'd try renaming the file you copied (make.linux) to Makefile or try running:

instead of just make - since make.linux isn't a standard name for a makefile.
