How to install Wine in OpenSuse11......?

Can anyone direct me on how to install, run and configure "wine" with OpenSuse11?

I am trying to install IE, because of the Java issues associated with the 64bit browser.......

Thanks....

Hi,

Did you read the download link for wine? It has a link for Suse:

http://www.winehq.org/site/download

Which points to a OpenSuSE repository with instructions:

http://en.opensuse.org/Wine#Repositories

Regards!

Installing IE in a Linux system somehow rubs me the wrong way.....

What are the issues with the browser (and which browser)? I have now started installing only 32-bit SW---regardless of the hardware. Plus, don't some browsers come in a 32-bit version?

Finally, doesn't WINE show up if you do a search in YAST?

Finally, FINALLY---there is something called IE4Linux --this has IE and WINE integrated into one handy package.

It has to do with the java-plugin and flash not working in harmony.

Yes, I tried and removed the 64 bit firefox browser and install the firefox 32 bit browser, but for some reason the java application would not work.

With 32-bit installations, I have had no trouble with Java and Flash working together. (At least in FF 2.X----for 3.X, I don't recall.)

If you are using a 64 bit OS, you need to install nspluginwrapper in order for the 32 bit plugins to work correctly.

If I do that, must I uninstall the 64 bit browser?, and if I do, does it not save its settings in a hidden folder?

With Mandriva you can download wine-doors and run IE6, but then again, its mandriva 2009 32bit.

I downloaded codewevers professional crossover and it works really nice on my OpenSuse 64 bit.

Grant it, its only IE 6, but at least java works, downside is it has an older version of adobeflash player that is not compatable with some sites.

Is it worth $70.00....?

If you downloaded Crossover yesterday (10/28), then it should have been free. (They were doing a special promotion).

By coincidence, I was just testing the Fluxbox version of Linux Mint. It installs FF 3 and I was surprised to see that it installed Flash and Java "out of the box"--everything seems to work perfectly

I don't use 64 bit operating systems myself, but I think you can keep your 64 bit browser and then the nspluginwrapper tool would make the browser work with 32bit plugins.
