Emacs 21.4 for openSUSE 10.2?

Hi all,

I installed openSUSE 10.2 a few weeks ago on my laptop, and it is generally working very well for me.

I noticed that the version of Emacs in the repositories is 21.3, which is a 2003 release. The latest, released, version is 21.4 from 2005 (with 22 due "any week now" for the past year or so).

Where can I find an RPM of 21.4 that will work with openSUSE 10.2?

I tried installing from the source, but I get an error while trying to make. I'm pretty sure I installed the correct GCC, Make, and other (Binutils) packages I need to compile from source, but it's not working for me right now.

I wish those packages were installed by default.

Thanks,

-Drew

I suppose you could try getting a RedHat .src.rpm for emacs 21.4, and compile your own binary .rpm for OpenSuSE.

Get it here:http://fr.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html...hp?query=emacs

Thanks for getting back to me. I can give that a shot.

I'm new to SUSE. Is there somebody I can contact to find out about getting a newer version of Emacs in the repository?

Regards,

-Drew
