Boot option

I have a USB FLash drive I'm wanting to run OpenSUSE live off of without installing. The options are Boot from Hard Drive and Install. I assume if I choose Boot from Hard Drive it will run from the Flash Drive and install. Thanks

Throwing this out without ever trying it. Perhaps you should create the drive this way: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_USB_stick

From the options you have it seems like you downloaded the installation iso and not the live iso? The boot from hard drive option is for booting an opensuse already installed to the internal hard drive.

It looks like you accidentally downloaded an Installation image rather than a Live image.

Select the right Live openSUSE Tumbleweed ISO from here: https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/iso/
Here are your sources for Live openSUSE Leap: https://download.opensuse.org/distri...eap/15.1/live/

If I decide to use SUSE as my distro which version should I use? I'm not a techie type just your average user. I just do surfing and streaming. I was going to go with Mint but have been having issues. I want something easy to use. So I get Tumbleweed or Leap. I the idea of install once and rolling updates but have read Tumbleweed has more bugs. And if I get Leap is it easy to upgrade to a new version?

If you're trying to just run a live distro, then you could test both in theory. Tumbleweed's ISO would be more up to date.

Tumbleweed is stable enough, and although you wouldn't have to upgrade version to version, you would have to download more MBs and sometimes GBs of updates. I usually do Leap on my production machines.

Am also NON-Technical...

Self found Tumbleweed version with its rolling changes caused myself extra stress (which BTW self needs avoid).

For new users of linux or openSUSE particularly NON-Technical or 'Regular' users best start for tex1171 is with Leap version rather than Tumbleweed.

Follow advice on page https://software.opensuse.org/

Where it suggests Leap
For Sysadmins, Enterprise Developers, and ‘Regular’ Desktop Users.
Download openSUSE’s regular release and enjoy the benefits of both enterprise-grade engineering and community-developed innovation.

IF comfortable knowing how openSUSE Leap works, then set aside 50 GB of HardDrive into which you can also install separately the Tumbleweed version to see IF you like it.

Advantage is to boot into either, IF Tumblweed fails to boot correctly, in few minutes can restart into Leap to learn why Tumblweed failed, hopefully so can quickly fix ; -))
