Battery Charge Monitor issue

I have SuSE 9.3 Pro, and everything's working great, except for one thing. The Battery Charge Monitor in the Gnome top panel will show an AC cord when the laptop is running on battery power. This continues until I restart the powersave daemon. How can I make this refresh automatically?
