9.3 Linksys WPC54G --almost--please help to Complete

Hi there -- I've got the Linksys card to be able to at least connect to the access poin but I just can't get a connection to the network or Internet.

I'm sure that I'm 99% there but this is the bit I'm stuck with is the final network configuration.

If I can get this working I'll post easy steps on what I actually did as I think the Linksys card is actually quite a common one.

Anyway here's the results of the scanning

edfox:~ # iwlist wlan0 scan

redfox:~ # ping 192.168.1.1
connect: Network is unreachable
redfox:~ #

I'm also sure that I actually turned the encryption key off -- I'll look again in 'DOZE

Anybody got any ideas on the final nudge to get this working.

Cheers

If you can't ping a device it is probably not in your network.

Your device and the computer that addresses the device need addresses in the same range.

Say if the device has 192.168.1.1 and the subnet is 255.255.255.0 than other devices must have an ipadres ranging from 192.168.1.2 to
192.168.1.250 (some of the last addresses are used for other purposes. If you subnet has another address or your computer , you have to change them, because otherwise they can't talk with each other.

So first take care of 'compatible' addresses and then ping. If you don't get an answer, there are 2 possibility's ; You Ipnumbering is wrong. Your cables are not or not connected in the right way.

After a good ping you should be able to access the device over your browser. Almost all linksys devices can be addressed by the browser.
