Hi all -

Attempting to install Solaris 10 on Sony Laptop VGN-FJ170/B. Unable to find any combination of display type/screen res that will test out OK during the installation.

Install appears to correctly detect the Intel 915GM chipset and sets video device to i810 (which I believe is OK?). I set screen size to 14". I set display type to Notebook Display XGA. I set resolution to 1280x800 (tried different bit depths). I have also tried many of the multi-frequency display types. All of this to no avail.

This is not critical that I get Solaris installed on this laptop. Seeing that Gentoo and Slackware gave me problems also (mostly with video issues) i'm assuming that this model is just too new to be fully supported outside of the windows platform.

Try Solaris Express, you'll have a more recent Xorg server version.

i'll try that. downloading the images now...
