I do not know whats the deal here...
Are you sure I put the "dns" in the right line??
I need this very urgently to be connected under Solaris...Any other suggestions please??
And here is my ifconfig -a output as well...
rtls0: inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
flags=1000843 mtu 1500 index 2 inet
192.168.1.100 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether: MY MAC ADDRESS which I will not show here...
And also...everytime I boot Solaris...I noticed that it says things like this below:
NOTICE: rtls0: link down
NOTICE: rtls0: link up 100Mbps Full_Duplex as its booting.

Yes the dns bit is in the right line. That line was plucked straight from my Solaris Express /etc/nsswitch.conf. I am using a static IP, so the other thing I did was put my nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf e.g.
Normally I would of selected DHCP...And I also chose NETWORKED also before that page..
It did NOT ask me that during installation....I only saw an IP Address of 192.168.1.100 in the IP Address field...thats all and I clicked on next..next and next...thats it..
I am not using statics...Im using a PPPoE type connection

That wasn't my question. The page I suggest you to try doesn't requires DNS resolution and would help figuring out what's wrong with your settings.
Anyway, as you stubbornly refuse this first test, try this other one and tell us what it shows:

Sorry to keep you waiting but I have to boot in and out of both Windows and Solaris...
Ok...Here we go..
Code:
server2 (my hostname) sendmail: 312
UNABLE TO QUALIFY MY OWN DOMAIN NAME (SERVER2)-- USING SHORT NAME.
And when I installed Solaris..I ususally SHOULD OF gotten this screenshot to select if I am using DHCP or not..Which would of been YES... http://imgfly.com/files/021206_021343/

OK..I did this...
arp server2 (my hostname)
server2 (192.168.1.100) at 0:d:87:2f:65:66 permanent published
Just tell me what would be the best fix for this please? I hate to reboot in and out of Solaris again just to access the net from Windows..
And how come it did not gave this screenshot http://imgfly.com/files/021206_021343/ during the installation?? It just only had this IP address like this: 192.168.1.100 already...It seemed that it already put that there by default or it had detected this IP address..

I try it again and it gave this:
(64.179.4.146) -- no entry
And what would you say or tell me about this here? This is from ifconfig -a
rtls0: inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
flags=1000843 mtu 1500 index 2 inet
192.168.1.100 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether: MY MAC ADDRESS which I will not show here...

This is how....
Code:
echo "nameserver 192.168.1.1" > /etc/resolv.conf
I was suspecting that.

And I'll bet so do you...
I should still thank you for helping me....Thanks!!!!
You're welcome, but it could have been faster should you have really tested what I asked for.
As fixing the resolv.conf file was enough, you simply lied when telling the plain IP URL was unresponsive

But I should still ask WHY and what the HECK was the issue here...Care t explain??
