/usr/libexc/Xorg: error while loading shared libraries: libhardbuzz.so.0: cannot xinit: giving up
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error
Always start by reading the error message carefully. Linux error messages are usually very informative. This one tells you that the problem lies with libharfbuzz.so.0, which is a library (any file with an ending like that is a library).
/usr/libexec/Xorg is your X-server, which xinit is trying to launch, and this is one of the libraries it links to. Maybe the library is missing, maybe it has the wrong version.
Start by running the command ldd /usr/libexec/Xorg. This will show you all the libraries that Xorg links to and where they were found. Check carefully the line for libharfbuzz. Then use the locate command to find out where this library is.
Post back the results. It may be that just reinstalling harfbuzz will settle matters.
is that libhardbuzz or libharfbuzz ?
You may try to install that library, but I don't know which one exactly and why is it missing.
It's harfbuzz. It's quite a well-known library and one of the dependencies of Xorg (as you'll see if you do an ldd on that). It might not be missing at all but inaccessible for some other reason (missing link?). That's why I think the OP should look for it before doing anything else.
@OP. Another test worth doing is ls -l /usr/lib/harfbuzz*. This should list the library and the chain of links leading to it. We can then see if any of them is broken.
