Hey Im really sorry to do this but could someone give me a link or email me a good set of install instructions and commands for the 10.1 version? Im pretty proficient at Windows but LINUX seems so fun. This is my first attempt at a not live-cd or dvd version but I make it too either two points and get stuck, A) I get everything installed and login as root and get to the computer name and prompt, or I reinstall and everything seems swell but when i reboot the computer says it can not find the operating system. Its an older HP Pavilion with a 13 gb hardrive, 128 mb of RAM at least and I believe a 300+Mhz Pentium II and thats about all I know. Ok well if you can help tahnk you a ton and if not thanks anyhow Im sure I can find something with enough searching here.

try suse linux 9.3........this distro is very easy to install

No I meant Slackware, sorry for some reason I thought I was posting in a slackware section. but no its not Mandriva and I already own the 4 cd install set I just need too get it started and such.

Go up a level - in "Slackware". Very first (news ??) item is something like "Here's how I do it all".
Think I just meandered through that when I wanted to drop Slack in - seemed to cover most things.

LQ member Shilo maintains an excellent guide to installing Slackware:

It is very easy to follow and helped me out a bunch when I first tried Slackware

if you want something similar to slack.........try debian..........a bit easier to setup
