kernel-generic and kernel-generic-smp ??

I install slackware 14.1 with my custom tagfile.

I enabled kernel-generic package, mark as "ADD". When I install, it raise infobox "kernel-generic-smp" to let me select. why? I do not find "kernel-generic-smp" package

Another package "isapnptools" also raise infobox, but I don't find it in ISO image. Where is it from?

Both are in the a/ series of packages, but only for Slackware 14.1 32 bit.

Just have a look at PACKAGES.TXT in the root directory of the Slackware ISO image.

PS Don't reuse your custom tagfiles from a former version without editing them, as from 13.37 to 14.1 for instance, packages have been removed/added and maybe renamed or moved. You can diff the respective standard tagfiles in each directory to find out what has changed and possibly patch your custom tagfiles accordingly before tweaking them.

PPS I think that your ISO image is for Slackware64 14.1 that doesn't ship separate SMP kernels, just because all kernels for this architecture are configured for SMP. Similarly you won't find isapnptools for 64 bit Slackware 14.1.

Yes, My ISO image is slackware64 14.1.

Do the install script have some bug? It have some difference between slackware32 and slackware64, right?

How do I modify my tagfile for slackware64?

The install scripts have no bug that I am aware off regarding your issue. And yes, there are differences between installers for 32 and 64 bit version of Slackware 14.1, mainly to deal with machines with an EFI firmware in 64 bit version: they need an UEFI partition and elilo has to be used instead of lilo during configuration.

For instance, let's say that your customized tagfiles were intended for Slackware 13.37 and that you named the one for the a/series tagfile.cus, available in some directory. Download genuine tagfiles for the a/ series in the same directory as respectively:
  • "tagfile" for Slackware 13.37
  • "tagfile.new" for Slackware64 14.1
cd to the directory where they are, then issue:
Code:
diff -u tagfile tagfile.new > a.tagfile.patch
Have a look at a.tagfile.patch to see what has changed.

If you feel brave and lazy (again, I assume that your customized tagifle for the a/ series is named tagfile.cus):
Code:
mv tagfile tagfile.pat
mv tagfile.cus tagfile
patch -p0 tagfile < a.tagfile.patch
You'll probably have some failed hunks, take care of them manually looking at tagfile.rej then do your tweaking.

Sounds like you used the 64-bit install image but then went on installing packages from a 32-bit package tree.
What is the result of these commands?
Code:
uname -a
ls -l /var/log/packages/kernel*
