Install from Slackware Live?

Hi guys,

may be a stupid question, but Alienbobs wiki page doesn't mention it: Is it possible to install onto the hard drive from Slack live?

Thanks!

Hi,

From http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:liveslak
Quote:
setup2hd

The fourth script:
The “setup2hd” script enables you to install the running Live OS to the computer's local hard disk. The “setup2hd” is a modified Slackware installer, so you will be comfortable with the process. There is no 'SOURCE' selection because the script knows where to find the squashfs modules. After you select the target partition(s), every active module of the Live OS variant (SLACKWARE, PLASMA5, MATE, …) is extracted to the hard drive. After extraction has completed, the script summarizes how many modules have been extracted. It will also show an example command to extract any remaining inactive or disabled modules manually. The final step in the installation is again the stock Slackware installer which kicks off the Slackware configuration scripts.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

The Wiki mentions this as onebuck already showed you. In addition, my blog's landing page for Slackware Live Edition (http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/slackware-live-edition/) has a section called "Install the Live OS to your hard drive easily" complete with screenshot.

Sorry then. I believe I initially landed here: https://docs.slackware.com/slackware:liveslak and confused that with your page. I just saw that this page mentions it as well, just far down on the page. I went to your page later and fast "read" it but only got stuck where it mentions the option to install to USB.

Just a suggestion: Maybe you could state the option to install up front, so that stupid people like me get it easily. Like here:

What is Slackware Live Edition, and what is liveslak?

Slackware Live Edition:
It is a version of Slackware (14.2 and newer) that can be booted and run directly from a DVD or a USB stick. It is distributed as an ISO image and meant to be a showcase of what Slackware is about. You get the default install, no customizations, but with all the power. You do not have to install Slackware to your harddisk first to experience it first-hand. You can of course also install to your harddisk from the live system, if you want to.
Please don't get this wrong, I just mean to make a great page even better. Thanks for your work, I will now install and then have a look at plasma 5
