Question 12.2 USBboot installer

Hey guys
i just downloaded discs 1-3 of slackware 12.2 and want to install it onto my laptop using a usb stick.
i've read that the image is in the /usb-and-pxe-installers directory.
is it one of of those 3 discs or do i have to download another disk as well?

thanks in advance

It should be on the first disk - if not, just download the .img file from an FTP server.

You could on the CD to look at that.

Otherwise you could do this:
Quote:
bash-3.1$ lftp ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/...lackware-12.2/
cd ok, cwd=/pub/slackware/slackware-12.2
lftp slackware.mirrors.tds.net:/pub/slackware/slackware-12.2> mirror usb-and-pxe-installers
Total : 2 répertoires, 19 fichiers, 1 lien symbolique
Nouveau : 19 fichiers, 1 lien symbolique
30989657 octets transférés en 71 secondes (427.3Ko/s)
lftp slackware.mirrors.tds.net:/pub/slackware/slackware-12.2> quit
bash-3.1$
Of course you can use another mirror.

Thank you for the correction, Eric. In some weird logic, I figured it would have been on the first disk.

*laughs* I wonder if providing wrong information will heighten the usage of search engines for some questions. No offense meant to the OP, but in a situation like this, they were asking if a file existing in a specific folder on a CD; why couldn't they have just inserted each of the three CDs and checked for that folder and file?

well i did open all three discs using winrar and couldn't find the directory. so i though either its in some obscure place on one of those three or its on another disc.
i don't really get the logic of putting it on disc 6... but i digress.

thanks for your help guys, i'm gonna download disc 6 now, might as well get disc 4 and 5 while i'm at it. Thank goodness the connection at work is relatively fast (100kb/s). I live in South Africa so thats insanely quick for us :P

thanks again!

Hi,

If you just want to download the 'usbboot.img'.
Look at the 'usb-and-pxe-installers' for the whole thing.
