What's the benefit behind using a container instead of a VM? I must admit that my knowledge of containers is pretty limited as I've never felt a need to explore them and find out what benefits they can offer me.
asked by @bassmadrigal. According to your own criterion that thread should be already forgotten yet you still keep it alive by constantly posting off-topic. And let me mention that actually such question just should be not asked there: there is separate forum for this, the first, the second question was answered multiple times. Just use the search forum button -probably in appropriate forum. So I have to say that I 100% agree with you.
Weird, you start off your post by saying "you are not serious, aren't you?" and then conclude by agreeing with what I wrote. Maybe it's s language barrier issue, but I don't understand what point you are trying to make.
Anyway, I never claimed that any thread that goes off-topic should be immediately closed. This one would have been closed on most other forums because its purpose is to criticize the moderators. Most other forums have specific and limited subforums for that sort of thing, and it is off-limits elsewhere.

i hope that being banned from a LQ forum does not automatically mean abandoning Slackware or one's work
I think this is more likely to be distro-specific. The Slackware forum at LQ is different to the forums of other distros inasmuch as we have some pretty useful and important people here. Of course there's PV, Eric, ponce, 55020, Robby posts occasionally, and then you have some other very knowledgeable posters who have been here for years. I could list them, but you mostly know who they are. The standard is high among regulars and the devs post here daily.
If one were banned from, say, the Debian forum at FDN, it wouldn't make much difference. A lot of the devs don't hang out there. One could just go to the Debian board at LQ, or maybe the Debian User Forums. But for a distro like Slackware, where community is so tied into distro-usage, being banned from the official forums is quite a blow. Of course, one can still maintain builds, but there could be a bitter aftertaste in doing so.
Two important points though. Firstly, both posters have not been blacklisted carte blanche, they can still come back. Secondly, one has to question how much they did care about the distro and its community to be given warning after warning and still persist. At the end of the day, it's a choice. I, for one, am not in the interest of jeapordising my participation here.

According to a4z's message on the SBo mailing list, for him it does mean just that.
In the Spring of 2015 I had a lot of personal issues that I was dealing with (addiction); my emotional state was volatile and my posting behaviour became erratic. As mentioned previously I received a warning for off-topic posting.
I am not suggesting that a4z or Darth Vadar are having personal issues. I'm just telling my story.
I hope that things work out well for them. Perhaps they'll choose to return to LQ.

Interesting point. I came across your blog recently and saw this. I'm pleased that things have improved for you.
