where are all the video codecs put by default in Slackware 10 ?

nowhere. there is no real location for codecs, as they take many forms. often they are a standard library, so will be with all the other .so files.../usr/lib etc... the win32 binary codecs often live in /usr/lib/win32, but there's no official location, as they're just libraries like any other library on your system

If you mean windows/ realplayer codecs for xine: they all go to /usr/lib/win32.
if you want to add mplayer, make a link /usr/local/lib/codecs pointing to the "win32 " dir , and put additional codecs there.
( well...i did that just to keep the stuff in one place )
mpeg lib's are in /usr/lib and /opt/kde/lib.
