@denydias As someone who has access to our bug tracker and reads lots of feedback from multiple sources, yes I can confirm this is not "just you". The easiest way to reproduce for those that have not seen it is to start Vivaldi with --incognito and then use the "File-> New window" menu item. The fix that caused this has been identified and reverting it would be one option. However, better than that, an hour ago one of our devs committed a potential fix that we will test. If all goes to plan I will try and get out a minor update with a fix ASAP. It is slightly tricky right now though as during Easter in Norway, almost everyone is away. We can potentially do minor updates even during holidays but while an important fix for some (such as yourself), the vast majority of users are not hitting this, so rather than rallying the troops to get out a fix quickly this might have to appear after Easter. If we do a snapshot test build with a fix in the mean time I can ping you here and let you know so that you can try it out.
@ruario thank you so much for confirming this. I've tried many things to at least workaround this, none did it. But now that you confirm that this is a known issue and Vivaldi's devs are aware, well, that makes me happy!
As for the time frame to release the fix, just let the people have fun on their holidays! Next week is as good as today. And you have fun too!
Thanks for being so understanding @denydias with such an annoying bug. The fix works well on internal testing but indeed it will not go until next week because I would like to test it in a snapshot to ensure no regressions related to it, and we are too many away to do another snapshot this week.
That said, there will be one more minor update before then (likely tomorrow) to fix a different issue which is much more common and thus probably cannot wait (VB-88353: [Crash] When a dialog tries to display on a newly opened tab).

After building and installing Vivaldi-5.2.2623.36 it seems as if the issue mentioned by denydias (not possible to open a new non-private window from a private window) has been solved.
Having once spent Easter in Oslo, where the whole town was completely shut down and appeared evacuated from lunch on Holy Wednesday, I'm impressed. True sign of a dedicated team.
I've just upgraded to 5.2.2623.36 using (I use Ruarí's script to install/update Vivaldi). Unfortunately it din't the trick for me. New windows are still stuck with Vivaldi logo at center and no more content thereafter.
I wondering what may have wrong with my boxes.
EDIT: but yeah, that team pace at holiday is superb!

Yes, you're right, noted the same behaviour here after a more thorough check.
If I start vivaldi from terminal with the command vivaldi-stable --incognito, it's still not possible to open a new non-private window.
However, if I start with the command vivaldi-stable and then open a new private window, I can open a new non-private window from there (although it's not maximized for some reason). That didn't work with the previous version. Small steps...
Nope, @ruario... still freezes the new window using 5.2.2623.39.
Yes I know. I have not put that fix in yet. I wanted that fix tested further and hence a snapshot first with it before we put it in a minor update.
I really, really did not want to do this update today to be honest. More than half the team is still away on vacation, myself included. But zero day… so what are you gonna do? 🤷🏼
Yeah... Nerds... disclosing flaws on vacations since civilization became a thing.
Don´t worry, @ruari. It's manageable. If you need any info to help debugging, just ping me here or in private. I don't know much what Vivaldi's debug options are, but if you instruct me properly I can provide any information you need.
Meanwhile, let's just hope zero day stuff ceases at google offices for a while so you can rest a little.
