vim in Slackware 15.0

I tried vim twice and it hangs on me ... so I switched back to elvis. What did I do wrong with vim?

You'll have to give more details. It works fine for me.

What command did you run to start vim?

Do you see any output in the terminal?

What do you do to make it hang?

I suspect it may be something to do with running vi in a splitvt session within screen (I know, screen can split the screen if you can remember the keystrokes but I am truly lazy). This doesn't upset elvis but vim doesn't like it all. One day I may look into it but elvis does everything I need right now so it's not worth the effort at this point.

In case you want to try splitting in screen, I don't remember the keybinding either, but you can use the same splitting commands as you use in vim so its easy to remember: (prefix):split and (prefix):only. I switch between panes with (prefix)Tab, but not sure if that's stock. Have been using tmux for a few years now and window splitting works differently.
