Upgrading my wine install...

I have wine 1.3.23 installed, and I'm about to upgrade to 1.3.29 from here - downloading the i486 version to install on my multilib Slackware64.

When I installed 1.3.23, I compiled from scratch as a multilib package using the steps on alienbob's wiki page. Since this is a precompiled package, I just want to make sure that I'm not going to have any problems if I just do
Code:
 upgradepkg wine-1.3.29-1sg.txz

Well two things.

First off, I'm not sure if it will work but I believe it depends on how the package was named. Have you already tried that command? Upgradepkg worked for me but I didn't compile wine from scratch though, I just downloaded the older pre-made .txz file from the same page you did.

Also, wine 1.3.30 (development version) was released about 8 hours ago from this post.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you download the 64 bits version of the pre-made package?

Because I seem to recall reading that 64 bit wine won't support 32 bit applications

It does. I can confirm. Of course, you need to have multilib installed and also the 32 bit OpenGL libraries if using Nvidia's driver.
