Upgrading KDE

Newbie here. I was just about to install the latest and greatest slack (9.0), when I noticed that KDE released an update. I was wondering what are the different ways to update KDE in slack. What's the easiest? What's the best? Which way will I learn the most about how things are actually installed? Is there a good way to update KDE before I burn the .iso to install? Answering any of these would help me out. Thanks.

James
