I have built the binaries of glibc-2.4.
I'm using 2.6 kernel.
I built it with gcc-4.1.1.

So, what shall I do next?
removepkg glibc or type make install?

Please help me

Wouldn't you need a statically linked make/install/sh/cp/ln/who-knows-what-else to be able to removepkg glibc and then make install??

You could *try* to use make install directly, but I'd bet that a *LOT* of things will break.

If I were crazy enough to try what you're doing, I'll probably make a package and then run upgradepkg. That's to try to replace everything as atomically as possible.

glibc 2.3.6 is quite solid, and I'm not aware of software which needs 2.4... You're just asking for trouble here. Why are you doing this?

You ARE asking for trouble... 10:1 your entire system breaks, even if you install it properly (official .SlackBuild w/ upgradepkg)...

Let us know what happens... Micro version bumps are even iffy IMO to upgrade. Jumping to a MAJ version... Wham!! Nothing on your system will work anymore. There's a remote chance I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Pat has a staging area in his glibc install/upgrade's... That's the only reason why it works in the first place... You most defenately wouldn't want to removepkg on it. That would be like me cutting your head off with 6' 2 handed sword.. Only with linux, if you were resourcefull, you could bandaid your head back on after I was done but it would be annoying and time consuming...
