Please bear with me as I am not extremely talented in Linux yet.

I am currently running Slackware 14 on a Toshiba Satellite L550D and came home from work today to discover that my computer had crashed and rebooted.This has happened a 5 or 6 times now. Upon looking through /var/log/syslog I discovered this:

It looks like this entry in the log has been added over 100 times before when I think the crash happened.

One other thing that I have been having problems with which could be related is when I close my laptop and am away from it for a while and come back, and unlock it, I will have an extremely large number of "Network Authentication Required" windows open and I will have been kicked off my network.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

About the large amount of 'Network Authentication Required'windows open at once.....
It sounds like your distributions Network Manager is attempting to connect to the internet multiply times and not connecting as it should.

Thank you Ztcoracat for your reply. The link that you posted I had already visited but unfortunately didn't help me solve my crash problem, but did give me a couple of hints on where to look for potential problems.

Regarding the unattended crash, I inadvertently solved it while messing around with my screensaver settings and changing it from an actual screensaver to a blank screen. Since changing this setting I have no longer had any crashes.

Regarding the ACPI Error, the syslog still has a tremendous amount of the same errors as mentioned in my previous post, but they do not seem to be related to the crashes as I had previously thought.

Regarding the large amount of "Network Authentication Required" windows upon opening my laptop and unlocking the screen, this problem still exists and will be my next project to try and solve. I will be creating another post regarding this as I feel it is unrelated to my original post title.

That's good news. Glad to hear one issue has been addressed.

I'm thinking that only another Slackware user would be more of a help to you than I with the "Authentication" issue continuing as frequently as it has. On other Linux distribution's looking into this file may be useful:
In some cases (not saying yours) it can be that 'Wired' and 'Wireless' are enabled.
In my case I had to edit that file in the terminal and comment out (#) the Wired argument in order for my Wireless to run properly.
